Iurie Razlovan has been appointed as interim director of Termoelectrica after the dismissal of the general director Vasile Leu.

Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said that the process of replacing the management of Termoelectrica started a while ago, as it transpired that there was a lot of infighting. “After all, this utility is so vital and strategic, and we cannot afford to have an all-against-all war within the company”, noted the minister. According to Parlicov, already in May it became clear that the problem was not going away, so it was decided that the management would have to be replaced.

“Eventually, I proposed Mr. Razlovan, with very concrete tasks that he has to accomplish both in the short term and in the long term. In the short term, he needs to ensure a smooth entry into the heating season and the preparation of the utility for the cold season, so that in the coming winter we have heat and energy, and no disruptions or sabotage. Mr. Razlovan has a lot of experience working at Termocom; he knows the company, he knows the engineering part”, the minister added.

For his part, Iurie Razlovan stated that he has worked at Termoelectrica since its establishment and knows the company from the inside. According to him, his first task is to prepare for the heating season, as this involves checking a lot of piping and equipment.

Razlovan’s appointment comes after Prime Minister Dorin Recean demanded the dismissal of the general director Vasile Leu over a scandal that allegedly involved large amounts of substandard fuel oil being disposed of by landfilling, in violation of safety and environmental rules.
