A new campaign to inform the population about the country’s European course is launched in Moldova in a bid to provide answers to the questions concerning the rapprochement with the EU. The national campaign “Europe for Your” is carried out within the Moldova Partnerships for Sustainable Civil Society (MPSCS) Project that is implemented by FHI 360 and financed by USAID, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the project, “Europe for Your” is an apolitical information campaign through which the MPSCS project aims to increase awareness of the European course, to stage public debates on the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU and to tell the people how it will influence the country’s economy, education system, health sector and agriculture.

Program director at the MPSCS project Anatol Beleac said this information campaign will help the people from all over the country to better understand the provisions of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU and to form an informed opinion. “We want to engage as many people, civil society, media outlets and businesspeople in discussions as possible as they must have a say as to the country’s European course,” he stated.

During a year, the MPSCS project, in partnership with civil society organizations, will furnish information through audio and video clips, street posters, leaflets, articles and TV programs, debates and public meetings. More than 100 meetings will be organized all over the country for the people to get clear answers as to the objectives related to the European integration. There will be also produced news items and monitoring reports on the implementation of the Association Agreement.

The aim of the Moldova Partnerships for Sustainable Civil Society Project is to improve Moldovan civil society’s capacity to represent the interests of the people, to influence the public policies and to support the democratic purpose of the sector. The project will strengthen the SCOs and SCO networks and will improve the relations between them, the people and the public authorities so as to contribute to the development of a vibrant and effective civil society sector. The project also supports the SCOs that sensitize and inform the population about the EU and Moldova’s European course.
