Five settlements of Moldova will choose their mayors or councilors this Sunday, May 19. As many as 28 persons are running for the post of mayor in four settlements, while six parties fielded candidates for local councilors in Mincenii de Jos village of Rezina district, IPN reports.

Volentir has told IPN that all the members of the local council in Mincenii de Jos will be reelected as the council was dissolved after taking no decision for six months. Six parties proposed candidates for councilors there: the Democrat Party heads the list with 14 candidates, the Communist Party (14 candidates), the Liberal Party (5), the Party of Socialists (5), the Political Party “Renaissance (9), and the Liberal Democrat Party (11).

Nine persons are running for
mayor in Chetrosu village of Anenii Noi district: Leonid Zalevschi (PLDM), Valentina Yakimenko (PDM), Profir Cerenciuc (independent), Ivan Leca (PL), Ion Alexei (the People’s Party of Moldova), Oleg Ignat (the Democratic Action Party), Tudor Novac (PCRM), Anatol Dobanda (independent), and Andrei Moiseev (the Party “Renaissance).

Six persons want to become mayor of Manta village of Cahul district, including:
Violeta Hancu (PLDM), Ion Pascal (PDM), Angela Lazar (PAD), Constantin Paduraru (PCRM), Dumitru Neagu (PPRM), and Dumitru Pascal (independent).

A new mayor is to be elected in Visoca village of Soroca district. Six persons are competing for this post: Marin Buzila (PDM), Nona Gorceag (PCRM), Viorica Vescu (PPRM), Grigorii Plesca (independent), Aliona Rotaru (PLDM), and Eduard Braniste (PL).

Seven persons are running for mayor in Oliscani, Soldanesti.
These are: Andrian Svecla (PDM), Valentina Turcanu (PLDM), Victor Barcari (PSRM), Teodor Garabajiu (PAD), Parascovia Lesan (PPRM), Stefan Panfilii (PCRM), and Mihail Taban (PL).
