Chamber music could be heard today inside the National Library of the Republic of Moldova on the occasion of a new edition of the music saloon. The Belgian band “Montagnana” was the special guest of the salon, IPN reports.

Veronica Văluță-Bantaș, division head at the National Library, said the music salon has formed part of the library’s traditional activities since the 1960s. This is designed to promote the national, universal musical art, to promote national and international composers, young talents and to contribute to developing musical culture.

Composer Constantin Rusnac said that it is nowadays harder to assimilate chamber music. If this was promoted since school, kindergarten, the chamber music would be more appreciated and in demand with modern society. “This music was filtered out by the most talented persons. The same happened to instrumental music,” he stated.

The invitees from Belgium played songs by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky on the piano, violin and violoncello.
