Vitalie Struna was appointed as director general of the state-run company Moldova’s Railways. He was named to post on November 4 by an order made by Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Anatol Salaru, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Under the same order, Sergiu Tomsa, who held the position of director general on an interim basis, returned to the post of chief engineer. The post of director general of Moldova’s Railways fell vacant on March 17 after Anatol Salaru dismissed the former director Ilie Turcanu because the administration did not work out an effective business plan and, as a result, it became impossible to control and monitor the company management process.
Vitalie Struna has over 15 years’ experience in management. Since 2002 until 2011, he served as vice president of Grampet SA/GFR Romania. He specialized in the management of commercial and logistic operations in internal and international railway transport, risk management, start-up investments, acquisitions and mergers.
