New deputy ministers appointed

The Government named new deputy ministers at its Thursday’s meeting, Info-Prim Neo reports. MP Andrei Popov was designated Deputy Minster of [Foreign Affairs]. Snce1997, Popov had worked in the central apparatus of the Foreign Ministry and at the Embassy of Moldova in the United States. During the last few years, he had been director of the Foreign Policy Association. He entered the Parliament after this year’s July elections on the Democratic ticket. Sergiu Ciobanu and Ilarion Popa were named as Deputy Minister of [Economy]. Sergiu Ciobanu is a Doctor of Economy and has experience in research and private business. He will coordinate the industrial and competitiveness policies. Ilarion Popa will be responsible for the energy sector. He graduated from the Polytechnic University and is an engineer by profession. He worked as director of the thermoelectric plant CET - 2 and director of the Chisinau Power Networks. Victor Barbaneagra became Deputy Minister of [Finance]. He worked in insurance and auditing, at foreign companies. Corneliu Marza is the new Deputy Minister of the [Environment]. He is a biologist by profession and is the vice president of the Local Chisinau Organization of the Ecologist Movement. Loretta Handrabura and Tatiana Potanga were named Deputy Ministers of [Education]. Potanga worked at the Balti Pedagogical University “Aecu Russo” and is a Doctor of Science. Ana Vasilache and Vadim Pistrimciuc will act as Deputy Ministers of [Labor], Social Protection and Family, Mihai Magdei and Gheorghe Ţurcanu – as Deputy Ministers of [Health], while Doina Scola – as Deputy Minister of [Information Technology]. Nicolae Adronachi and Oleg Ţulea became Deputy Ministers of [Youth and Sport]. Historian Gheorghe Postica is the new Deputy Minister of [Culture], while Anatol Onceanu is Deputy Minister of [State]. Lucia Spoiala is the new director of the National Bureau of Statistics, while Vasile Grama will head the Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre. Ludmila Dumitras, consultant on tourism matters, was named director of the Tourism Agency. At the same meeting, the Government dismissed Vladimir Golovatic from the post of director general of the National Bureau of Statistics, Nicolae Esanu – of Deputy Minister of Justice, Galina Bulat – of Deputy Minister of Education, Ion Munteanu – of Deputy Minister of Culture, and Ion Apostol – of Deputy Minister of Ecology.
