New crosswalks have been set up on a number of streets of Chisinau, at the request of the National Patrolling Inspectorate. The zebra crossings near education and public institutions were renewed.

Contacted by IPN, head of the road maintenance company “Exdrupo” Efim Cheptanari said that 18 new crosswalks appeared in Chisinau, on the streets with an increased risk of road accidents involving pedestrians. The company’s employees finished marking the new crosswalks and repainted the old ones.

A sum of 5 million lei was allocated from the municipal budget for marking all the crosswalks and purchasing new road signs. The paint is imported from Belarus. According to the compliance certificate, it has a resistance of at least three months.

The municipality renews the street marking two times a year – in spring and in autumn, at the beginning of the new school year. There are about 10,000 road signs and over 360 crosswalks in Chisinau.
