The Cabinet approved the draft law on judicial genetic registration that specifies the conditions of taking and keeping DNA samples required for preventing and fighting offenses and for identifying missing persons, IPN reports.

Samples will be taken by the qualified personnel of the General Police Inspectorate or the Legal Examination Center.

There will be set up a molecular genetic analysis laboratory and an electronic genetic database needed for swiftly identifying authors of offenses based on DNA.

A sum of 3.5 million is needed for creating the lab at the Ministry of the Interior, purchasing the necessary equipment and training the personnel.

The bill will be submitted to Parliament for consideration.
