The new Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn will pay a visit to Moldova on November 6, at the invitation of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. The two officials will have a bilateral meeting and will then make statements for the media, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
Johannes Hahn will make his first visit abroad as Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations after taking over from Stefan Füle, who completed his duties on October 31.
At the beginning of last month, within hearings held in the European Parliament to confirm him to the new post, Johannes Hahn said that he approves of the efforts made by Moldova on the path to reforms. He noted that the Eastern Partnership creates a good framework of cooperation with the countries that are in the vicinity of the EU, underlining that during his five-year tenure he will do his utmost for Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia to receive the necessary assistance from Brussels in doing modernization reforms.
