The cleanup tax of 10 lei a month that was introduced in Chisinau will be paid once a year, in November. The bills will be issued by the Local Tax Collection Division, deputy mayor of Chisinau Inga Ionesii was quoted by IPN as saying in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services.
The functionary noted the mechanism for applying the given tax is being worked out in concert with the State Tax Service and the Electronic Governance Agency. The mechanism will be based on the same formula as that applied in the case of the real estate tax. The given tax is different from the waste collection and yard cleaning taxes. It is a sanitary tax levied for keeping the city clean.
The new cleanup tax started to be applied on January 1, 2021. Each private individual registered with the domicile at the declared address will pay 10 lei a month. The pensioners, persons with disabilities and children younger than 18 are exempted from paying this tax.
