New challenges in Bender

A number of militiamen and employees of the so-called security ministry of Transnistria on November 5 tried to stop the Bender police commissariat’s special car that was transporting two detainees accompanied by police officers to the court in Varnita village, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Reintegration Office. As a result of the efforts made by Moldova’s representatives to the Joint Control Commission and the Reintegration Office, with the active support of the partners in the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks, peacekeepers and representatives of the OSCE Mission traveled to the place and helped localize the incident and prevent its escalation into a large-scale conflict. Things returned to normality and the situation is being monitored by military observers. Expressing their regret at this incident, the Moldovan authorities are determined to maintain stability in the Security Zone so as to create the preconditions needed to continue the dialogue and identify a viable solution to the Transnistrian dispute, it is said in the communiqué.
