The members of the Filat Government have been sworn in. After drinking champagne and congratulating each other, the functionaries went to their ministers accompanied by Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I swear to use my power and capacity for Moldova's prosperity, to observe the Constitution and the laws of the country, to defend the democracy, the fundamental rights and freedoms, Moldova's sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity” the ministers pledged. After swearing an oath and putting their signatures, the ministers knelt down in front of Moldova's flag and then gave their hand to Moldova's Acting President Mihai Ghimpu. The ex officio members of the Government – the governor of Gagauzia Mihai Formuzal and the president of the Academy of Sciences Gheorghe Duca – were also sworn in. In their excitement, some of the ministers forgot the words or to put their signatures. Those that held the post of minister earlier were more confident. “You should not forget that the greatest trust is the trust given by the Moldovan people,” Mihai Ghimpu told the ministers. “A complicated period is waiting for us. But this period will be a challenge for us and for the whole society. We will have to overcome the obstacles hindering Moldova's modernization so that when our terms in office expire in four years we are not ashamed to look into people's eyes,” Vlad Filat said. The swearing in ceremony closed with clinking of glasses of champagne and congratulations. Afterward, the ministers went to their ministries to get acquainted with the employees and to prepare themselves for the first meeting of the Government that will be held on Friday evening.
