New Cabinet sacks, appoints

The first sitting of the new Government has been dedicated to organizational matters, as officials have been dismissed, and others employed, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Cabinet has accepted the resignations tendered by Feodosia Furculita, the head of the Customs Service, Vitalie Valcov, the head of the National Statistics Bureau, Valeriu Mironescu, the head of the Moldova Vin Agro-Industrial Agency and Nicolae Gumenai, the head of the Government’s Apparatus. The Cabinet has appointed Viorel Melnic as the head of the Customs Service. He was a deputy minister of Economy and Trade. Earlier Viorel Melnic was a top customs official. Sergiu Puscuta has been dismissed as the head of the State Principle Fiscal Inspectorate and has been appointed as the director general of the Economic Crimes and Corruption Combating Center. Vladimir Golovatiuc has been appointed as the head of the Statistics Bureau. He was a direction head at the National bank earlier, while lately he was an advisor for macroeconomic matters at the Economy Ministry. Iurie Carp, who had been the director of Aroma winery, has been appointed as the new director general of the Moldova Vin Agro-Industrial Agency. Mihai Pop has been appointed as the chief of the Government Apparatus. Prime-Minister Zinaida Greceanai has said she expects big modifications in the structure of the Government’s Apparatus. She has appraised Mihai Pop’s qualities and has said he has the necessary know-how to cope with the responsibilities of the Government’s Apparatus. They will focus on three aspects, according to the Premier: coordinating and analyzing the policies promoted by ministries, monitoring the foreign financial assistance, and promoting the reform of the central public administration. 9 advisors of former Premier Vasile Tarlev have been fired. The new Prime-Minister has said she needs but two counselors. They are Ion Chicu, deputy minister of finances till now and counselor of the present Premier earlier, as well as Ruslan Flotea, also a counselor of Zinaida Greceanai, when she was prime deputy prime-minister. By the end of the sitting, Zinaida Greceanai has said more appointments are expected at the next sitting, at ministerial levels.
