The seven new members of the Cabinet – two deputy prime ministers and five ministers – who were named following the reshuffle announced by the ruling alliance on December 19, were sworn in on January 10. The appointment decrees were signed the same day by Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, who holds office of President based on the January 2 judgment by which the Constitutional Court ascertained the circumstances that led to the suspension of President Igor Dodon, IPN reports.
The new Cabinet members are: Iurie Leanca – Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration; Cristina Lesnic – Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration; Chiril Gaburici – minister of economy and infrastructure; Alexandru Tanase – minister of justice; Tudor Ulianovschi – minister of foreign affairs and European integration; Liviu Volconovici – minister of agriculture, regional development and environment, and Svetlana Cebotari – minister of health, labor and social protection.
Andrian Candu said the Cabinet in its new composition should bring to an end the commenced things and should initiate the waiting ones so that the people feel the effects of reforms. The high-ranking officials should have the feeling of duty, while the servants should be professional and show devotion. The Speaker said he is sure that the new ministers have such qualities.
Attending the ceremony, Prime Minister Pavel Filip expressed his confidence that the new members of the Cabinet will work efficiently even if this year will not be an easy one given that it is an electoral year. “This new governmental formula perfectly matches the technocratic dimension,” he stated.
Last October, Eugeniu Sturza was invested as minister of defense in similar conditions, following a decree signed by Speaker Andrian Candu as acting President of Moldova.
