The first five new ISUZU buses of the 100 buses purchased by the municipality of Chisinau were launched today in the capital city. They will run on routes N0. 5, 19, 26. The other 95 buses will be delivered to Chisinau by the end of this year, IPN reports.
Mayor General Ion Ceban said the modern buses have a seating capacity of 107. They are outfitted with USB devices, surveillance cameras, air conditioning systems and will soon be also connected to the Internet.
The mayor stated that besides the 100 new buses, 58 used buses were brought to Chisinau. Eleven of these run in the suburban settlements of Durlești, Băcioi, Bâc, Cricova. From last December until this December, the trolleybus and bus routes in the capital city and the suburban communities will be supplemented with 212 units of transport. Two new trolleybuses were bought in Italy and are now being tested.
Ion Ceban noted that for the first time in the last 15 years, so many public transport units were brought during a year. His goal until the end of his tenure is to reorganize the Chisinau bus and trolleybus companies and to provide them with the necessary units of transport. Seventy-one public transport units have been used for over 20 years.
