A new bridge located between kilometers 95 and 95 of the national road M1 that passes through Chisinau’s Balcani Street has been opened to vehicle traffic. The bridge that existed there before has added two new lanes.

“The bridge has cost 71 million lei to build, money which was allocated from the National Road Fund. The bridge over the Bic River and over the railway has a length of 60 meters and will reduce travel times for drivers, especially for those who commute from Ghidighici, Vatra, Grătiești and other suburban area”, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița's posted on Facebook.

Construction began back in 2016 and was supposed to be completed by the summer of 2020. “We made sure that those responsible for the implementation of the project and the authorities work together to complete the works responsibly and as quickly as possible. Several never-ending construction sites inherited from previous governments have seen animation lately and I think that in the spring we will complete the overdue projects and start new construction sites”, said Natalia Gavrilița.

The new bridge is part of a broader project that envisages broadening the M1 segment Pruncul-Cricova to four lanes, building an intersection with Petricani Street and constructing exits going under the bridge.
