New bomb hoaxes announced in Chisinau

Three bomb hoaxes were reported in the municipality of Chisinau on July 19 – at the Chisinau International Airport, the Supreme Court of Justice and the Municipal Hospital “Gheorghe Paladi”, IPN reports.

According to Svetlana Scripnic, press officer of the General Police Inspectorate, the police were informed that explosive devices had been panted inside the buildings. The specialized services examined the scenes. The areas were cordoned off and all the employees and visitors were evacuated. No explosives were found inside the buildings.

The Chisinau International Airport resumed operations in over an hour and a half, Raisa Novitski, press officer of the Border Police, has told IPN.

O hoax was also reported at the Supreme Court of Justice on Monday. On July 6, more than 50 bomb scares were announced in Moldova and all of them turned out to be hoaxes. They referred to public institutions situated in Chisinau and in almost all the country’s districts, including mayor’s offices, subdivisions of the Public Services Agency and the Chisinau International Airport.

Intentional misleading about an act of terrorism is punished with a fine of at most 42,500 lei or 180 to 240 hours of community service or a maximum jail term of two years. In the case of children, the fine is imposed on parents.
