The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family will cooperate with the Ministry of Justice in formulating a new bill on the rehabilitation of victims of political repression that will aim to increase the social protection of the repressed persons, improve the mechanism for returning their property and the method of paying compensations for the property that cannot be restored. The Government made such a decision at its meeting on December 2, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minster of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said the legislative initiative of MP Iurie Colelesni, which proposes abrogating the Law of June 26, 2006 that modifies the Law of December 8, 1992 on the rehabilitation of victims of political repression, cannot be accepted by the executive as there would be created a legislative vacuum. “The law that was to be abrogated allows the victims of political repression to get their property back or to get compensations. We realize that the current restoration procedure is bureaucratized and that the persons do not get to receive compensations while they are alive. Therefore, we should draft a new bill that will contain a clearer, more transparent and simpler mechanism for quickly returning the confiscated good or their value to the recipients,” Valentina Buliga said.
