MP Vladimir Golovatiuc is likely to replace Andrei Neguţa as Moldova’s ambassador to Russia, incumbent President Igor Dodon announced in a new edition of the online programs “Igor Dodon. President Responds”, IPN reports.
“Earlier this week, Mister Neguța was recalled as Moldova’s Ambassador in Moscow. I think the Government took a correct decision. Requests were made to get the Russian side’s agreement for Mister Golovatiuc, who heads the Parliament’s commission on budget, economy and finance. I think everyone, including our political opponents from Parliament, agree that he is a professional. He also taught at St. Petersburg University. He is an economist by profession and also a career politician. He headed a number of parliamentary groups and I think he is a person who can ensure a new level of the bilateral relations with the Russian Federation,” stated President Dodon.
Under the legal provisions, the ambassadors are named by the President of the Republic of Moldova at the suggestion of the Government. Andrei Neguţa was recalled after anabolic steroids were found in a minibus with a diplomatic license plate that was on a mission on the Moscow – Chisinau – Moscow route.
