Nelly Ciobanu says that she did her utmost to look well on stage at Eurovision and that she is proud of what she achieved, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Even if I took the 14th place, I had a good performance. It was a privilege to gather the Moldovans from all over the world into a round dance. I can say that this year’s Eurovision was exceptional, a show that made a sensation” the singer said at a news conference in Chisinau on May 19. “I understood nothing of it,” Nelly Ciobanu said about winner Alexander Rybak’s Fairytale. She said she liked the songs of the representatives of Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Poland and Armenia. Moldova’s participation in Eurovision, including the promotion tour, cost 90,000 euros. Out of this sum, 60,000 euros was provided by Orange, said Vitalie Cojocaru, president of the organizational committee. He also said that the services provided by Teleradio-Moldova cost about 30,000 euros. “There are countries that spend 500,000 euros on the participation in Eurovision,” Cojocaru said. The 54th Eurovision Song Contest was held in Moscow as Dima Bilan won the 2008 edition in Belgrade. Russia spent about US$42 million on the organization of the contest – the largest sum ever allocated for the event.
