“Absolutely nobody in this country does anything without the agreement of the President. Everything is done upon the instruction and the control of the head of the state. Neither Dodon ({Igor Dodon, deputy premier – e.n.}) does anything, nor Tarlev ({Vasile Tarlev, ex-premier – e.n.)} did anything. It's not them who was the director,” a leader of the Centrist Union, Gheorghe Amihalachioaie, told a news conference Thursday. The Centrist Union from Moldova (UCM) elected the former prime minister as its president, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Gheorghe Amihalachioaie, Vasile Tarlev accepted to be an executioner of the presidential instructions “because not being a prime minister he could not have done good things, too.”
UCM has repeatedly accused the Justice Ministry of “illegally declining to register Vasile Tarlev as its president”. “On January 23, we received a decision signed by the Justice Minister refusing to register Mr. Tarlev as the UCM's president. They asked us for the signatures of all the party members, although this is necessary only in the case of registering a party,” specified the politician, who's also the head of the Moldovan Lawyers Bar.
The members of the UCM's political bureau conclude that the refusal is veered by the ruling party against Vasile Tarlev. According to Amihalachioaie, although indignant, Vasile Tarlev is not angry with the Justice Minister, because “his refusal is dictated from above.”
In cased the Ministry goes on refusing top register Vasile Tarlev as the UCM's president, the leadership will be taken over by a deputy president. It's possible that former leader Mihai Petrache may be accepted by the Ministry, and he will thus remain the president. In any case,Tarlev will be the first on the UCM's list for the coming parliamentary elections, Gheorghe Amihalachioaie said.
