The municipality of Chisinau will initiate negotiations with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank for implementing the Chisinau Solid Waste Project. A decision to this effect was taken by the Chisinau Municipal Council on August 6, IPN reports.

Ala Mârza, adviser to the mayor general and rapporteur on the draft decision, said the municipality of Chisinau is the biggest producer of solid waste in Moldova. The area is complex and necessitates substantial investment, including in the waste dump in Țânțăreni. The local public administration should set the priorities for this area and should cooperate with foreign partners so as to obtain financial resources for development.

Under the adopted decision, the project will include the development of the municipal cleanup company Autosalubritate by renewing the pool of cars and of waste selection mechanisms, rehabilitation of the waste dump in Țânțăreni, revitalization of the alternative access way to the waste dump, closure of the landfill on Uzinelor St, etc.
