The first meeting to discuss the plan of action for implementing the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union, which envisions the creation of a Free Trade Area, will take place in Chisinau on December 19. The plan will include the new generation of instruments for complementing the further actions. There will be also discussed the method of financing the priorities.

The information was made public by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iulian Groza in the first debate forum on Moldova’s European integration, staged in Chisinau, IPN reports.

Iulian Groza said the implementation plan of the Association Agreement contains actions planned for several years ahead. The plan will be reviewed every three years. “The most important thing at this stage is to agree the plan that we want to be approved before the signing of the Association Agreement as, in several weeks of the signing, the accord will start to be mostly applied, besides those areas that require a period of transition, with the dates being already set,” said the official.

The European Commission last week decided to offer Moldova €35 million additional financial assistance, based on the ‘more for more’ principle, within the Eastern Partnership. The money will be used to support the implementation of required reforms in some of the areas in the period of transition. Iulian Groza said the Moldovan authorities agreed with the European Parliament that the Association Agreement will be signed at the end of next September and will be ratified before the parliamentary elections of Moldova.

The Moldovan European Integration Debate Forum was organized by the Foreign Policy Association and the German foundation Friedrich Ebert, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova.
