The persons who come to the Republic of Moldova from countries classed as red zones directly or in transit are obliged to self-isolate for 14 days even if they have a negative test for COVID-19, acting director of the National Public Health Agency Vasile Guștiuc stated for IPN.

He noted that this is provided by the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission’s decisions. When entering the country, the persons will mandatorily fill out the epidemiological form and will sign an own responsibility statement by which they will promise to quarantine for 14 days in definite places.

There are categories of people who are freed from this obligation, such as persons who travel for health or professional purposes, members of diplomatic missions, international missions, etc.

Vasile Guștiuc considers an eventual decision to free the persons from self-isolation if the test is negative should be thoroughly examined by specialists.

A state of public health emergency was instituted in Moldova for the period between November 30, 2020 and January 15, 2021.
