The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) recommends the licensed banks to refrain from distributing dividends to shareholders and from redeeming own funds instruments until the audit companies present the audited financial situations for the end of 2020, IPN reports.
In a press release, the NBM said the decision was taken in a move to ensure the stability and viability of the licensed banks in connection with the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the forecasts that the pandemic will yet spread.
The ensuring of a proper level of own funds and liquid assets by promoting an appropriate risk management policy will enable the licensed banks to maintain lending to real economy, noted the Bank.
