The National Bank of Moldova has launched the new version of the portal RCA.NBM.MD. The portal provides consumers of financial services with essential digital tools for calculating the insurance premium, checking the status of the vehicle’s internal and external insurance, obtaining information about the Bonus-Malus classes and the history of the vehicle’s registered damages. The institution also announces the implementation of the new format for the internal MTPL insurance policy in the context of the continuous modernization of financial services, IPN reports.

“The new version of the portal RCA.BNM.MD serves as a single point of access to data associated with compulsory motor liability insurance issued by participants in the insurance market of the Republic of Moldova. This portal facilitates access to the data generated and hosted by the State Automated Information System in the field of compulsory MTPL insurance,” reads a press release of the NBM.

Among the most important and innovative functionalities of the new version of RCA.BNM.MD is the access to the history of damages recorded based on the vehicle’s unique identification number (VIN code).

By simply entering the VIN code, users can quickly obtain data from vehicle insurance claim files managed by the insurance companies of the Republic of Moldova or the National Bureau of Motor Insurers of the Republic of Moldova, as the case may be. This new functionality is essential to provide the general public with confidence and security in vehicle purchase/sale agreements. Thus, the possibility of checking the damage history will allow avoiding potential problems related to hidden defects.

As for the new format of the internal MTPL insurance policy, the NBM said that the policy is now in A5 format and includes a QR code that, when scanned, allows checking the validity of the insurance policy and provides detailed information about the history of the vehicle’s registered damages.
