Moldovan athlete of Nigerian origin Michael Ojo has won the title of national kickboxing champion. The 17-year-old athlete beat Mircea Paladi in the final of the 81 kg class in a spectacular way, IPN reports.

“I’m very glad as I had a powerful opponent. For me this is a special accomplishment as I didn’t have such rivals until now,” said Michael Ojo.

“The lineup that will represent Moldova at international competitions will become known in several days. The champions from practically all the weight categories secured a place in the national kickboxing squad. It is very well when there is competition,” said the coach of the national team Eugen Musalimov.

Moldova’s championship this year brought together 577 athletes from 20 districts of the country. The president of the National Kickboxing Federation Tudor Gorea said the number of competitors rises every year.
