NATO donated about 25,000 personal protective suits for medical staff of COVID-19 units on February 24. The equipment was taken to the Municipal Children’s Hospital “Valentin Ignatenco” from where it will be distributed to other medical institutions. The donation is the first part of the package of assistance for fighting COVID-19. The second lot of 100,000 FFP2 masks will be delivered to Moldova during the next few weeks, IPN reports.

“I want to assure you that this humanitarian aid will be used for the right purpose and will benefit both healthcare workers and children, parents suffering from this very dangerous infection that causes havoc all over the world,” stated Tatiana Zatyk, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.

Lithuania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Kestutis Kudzmanas said the Embassy is a NATO contact point in Moldova. “In the name of NATO and the Liaison Office in Chisinau, I would like to transmit a forceful message: the NATO allies are solidary with the Republic of Moldova in the COVID-19 response measures. We are glad to present you this donation from NATO, which consists of 25,000 disposable biological protective suits. These suits will help frontline healthcare workers to protect themselves and to continue to save lives in safety,” stated the ambassador.
