A nationwide reading promotion campaign entitled “Let’s read together” was launched at the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga”. This year, the campaign is devoted to the books “Desert rose” by Claudia Partole, “Newton’s nut” by Iulian Filip and “Thinking about you” by Aurelian Silvestru, IPN reports.

Within the campaign, the national libraries will promote and organize the reading of the recommended books through public readings, meetings with authors, debates and theater plays. The books of the three authors already reached the public libraries.

Director of the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” Claudia Balaban said that this campaign is a continuation of the campaign “Moldova’s children read a book”. The organizers changed the title of the campaign, which is at its fifth edition, because the promoted books are read not only by children, but also by young people and grownups.

Writer Claudia Partole said that she worked a lot on the book “Desert rose”, which was already sent to public libraries. During many years, she gathered the materials she needed to write this story. “The book centers on the process of reviewing an outstanding event for mankind – crucifixion of Jesus Christ – which is yet done through the view Claudia Pilat – a woman who was witness to this event. If her dream, her prevision had been taken into account, we have been probably different today and mankind learned this lesson. But we continue to crucifix each other, in the metaphorical sense,” she stated.

Writer Aurelian Silvestru said his books are promoted within this campaign for the third time. “It is very important for the book and its author to appear together before the readers because we are first of all educators and we actually shape the people’s conscience. The duty of the writers is to take the children to light because there is a lot of darkness and sadness around us,” he said.

The campaign “Let’s read together” will last throughout this year.
