The Government, Parliament, artists and civil society have launched a nationwide campaign titled “Moldova for Peace”. The goal is to make common cause with the Ukrainian citizens and to disseminate anti-war messages alongside the logo and symbol of the campaign, IPN reports.
President Maia Sandu said that the Martsishor this year comes with a peace message. The war in Ukraine shook everyone and everyone now wants the fighting to be stopped and peace to be restored. “Together with the coming of spring, we want to know that life can beat weapons that bring destruction and death. Moldova has always been a peaceful country. We know to praise peace and do our best to make so that it persists on our land,” said Maia Sandu, urging everyone to join in the campaign as peace is the priority.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said this year the Moldovans cannot joyfully welcome the Martsishor now that Ukrainian is in an unjustified and inhuman war. The people’s homes, kindergartens, hospitals are being bombed. Innocent people, civilian and children, die. Tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens come to Moldova to make sure their children are safe and Moldova welcomes them. A spring of peace in Ukraine and all over the world should come.
