The national Under 21 football team of Moldova started the qualifying rounds of the 2017 European Championship with a defeat. Moldova was beaten by Belgium in Leuven 1-2, IPN reports.
The hosts scored the two goals in the first half, which they dominated authoritatively. Tielemans opened the score in the 13th minute, while in the 45th minute Castagne widened the difference by scoring from the front of the goal. In the 49th minute, Alexandru Bejan was given a free kick that was transformed into a goal by captain Dan Spataru.
Thus, Belgium won the first match of Group 1 that also includes the Czech Republic, Montenegro, Latvia, and Malta.
On June 11, Moldova meets Malta in Tiraspol. Until then the team trained by Igor Ursachi will yet take part in the international tournament “Valerii Lobanovskii” in Kiev.
