National Wine Day attracted about 120,000 visitors in central Chisinau

This year’s edition of the National Wine Day brought together about 120,000 people who celebrated the holiday in the Great National Assembly Square. During two days, the visitors bought 83,000 bottles of wine and tasted about 10,000 bottles. Each fourth visitor tasted 12 high-quality wines with a Protected Geographical Indication by using the Taster’s Card, IPN reports, with reference to the National Office of Vine and Wine.

According to the organizers, hundreds of people visited the Wine School and took part in oenological-gastronomical masterclasses staged by the National Office of Vine and Wine. A number of 600 disposable ethylotests were distributed there to promote the correct and moderate consumption of wine. As many as 400 visitors who measured the concentration of alcohol in the exhaled air received the necessary recommendations as regards the subsequent behavior at the holiday.

Thousands of tourists from different corners of the word, such as Japan, China, the U.S,. France, Ukraine, Romania and Russia, amused themselves in the central square of Chisinau. Thirty foreign journalist will take the fame of the Wine of Moldova and the country as a tourist destination that deserves to be visited to six countries, namely France, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Italy and the U.S. Dozens of national wineries opened their doors to about 7,500 tourists who tasted and bought almost 13,000 bottles of wine directly from producers.

During two days, over 350 artists with bands created the atmosphere at the holyday. Among these were the Folk Music Orchestra of the Advahov Brothers, the Folk Music Orchestra “Rapsozii Moldovei”, the ensembles “Crenguța de Iedera” and Maria Iliuț, “Plăieșii”, “Surorile Osoianu” etc. The 20 most talented craftsmen exhibited their works at a fair of handicrafts.

As part of the holiday, 30 Moldovan producers displayed their wines in Romania’s Snagov during October 5-7. About 10,000 wine lovers from over the Prut could discover the Wine of Moldova, tasting and buying 10,000 bottles of wine. The event included a concert that involved eight bands, from Moldova as well.

Over 150,000 Moldovans work in the national wine industry and more than 1,000 enterprises operate in the winegrowing, winemaking and oenotourism. The sector accounts for almost one fifth of the value created in the agrifood industry.
