The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service on June 25 will conduct a complex check of the centralized automated warning system of the country, in accordance with the Civil Protection Plan of Moldova, IPN reports.
At 2pm, all the street sirens will be turned on and a signal meaning “Attention everyone!” will wail for one to three minutes. When hearing the sirens, the people must behave calmly. The institution heads and decision makers of the local public authorities are asked to ensure quietness and continuation of work.
The purpose of the centralized automated warning system is to alert the population in case of nuclear or chemical accidents and natural disasters. The system is tested with the aim of determining its functionality.
There are 270 sirens in Moldova, with 115 of these being in Chisinau.
