The National Unity Party (PUN) could boycott the parliamentary elections that were set for next February, the party’s leader Anatol Șalaru was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Truth live”.

“We are considering the best strategy for the election campaign with Traian Băsescu as we cannot throw our votes into the garbage bins. We are also investigating the possibility of not taking part in the upcoming parliamentary elections in protest at this unjust system,” stated Anatol Șalaru. According to him, the participation would mean recognition of a regime that changes the laws when it wants, for its benefit.

“If we analyze things and reach the conclusion that our participation in elections would reduce the number of votes for Maia Sandu, for example, or would enable the Party of Socialists and the Democratic Party to win a comfortable majority, we will not take part in the elections,” noted the politician.

The former President of Romanian Traian Băsescu is the president of honor of the PUN.

The parliamentary elections in Moldova will take place on February 24, 2019.
