The National Unity Bloc (BUN) said it will support the candidates who signed the “Pact for Union, Pact for Europe” in the second round of the local elections. Their names can be found on www.pact.md. In a news conference at IPN, BUN member Constantin Codreanu said that tens of candidates who signed the pact won the mayoral elections by the first round. Several tens of signatories more are running in the second round and these must be supported. The pact, voted in the large-scale event staged in central Chisinau on May 16, envisions cooperation between the Moldovan local authorities and the Romanian ones and with unionist associations.

Corina Bezer, the representative of the Civic Platform “Honor, Dignity and Motherland” that forms part of the BUN, said that to support the candidates who signed the pact, the Bloc stages an event near the monument to ruler Stephan the Great and Holy at 11am on June 27. A huge tricolor, which is 300 meters long, will be stretched there. Within the event, the people will be urged to support the candidates who signed the “Pact for Union, Pact for Europe”. The people are also invited to sign for Union at the Bloc’s tents.

Veaceslav Balacci, the representative of the Association “Reality and Truth” of the BUN, said that the Great National Assembly, announced in the unionist meeting of May 16 that involved 25,000 people, will be held on July 5. Twice more people are expected to take part in this event. Only by such acts can the people make themselves heard by the government and the great European capitals, by Bucharest and by Moscow too. “The people’s wish is too powerful to be contained by foreign interests,” said Veaceslav Balacci, noting that those who want to take part in the July 5 event can call on 067693338 for details.

Anatol Ursu, the representative of the Association “Moldova’s Youth” of the BUN, said that the Great National Assembly will be followed by the March of Stephan the Great. A column of people will go on a march from Chisinau to Ungheni to reach the Prut. The event will last for five days and will end with a flower bridge on July 11. At the Ungheni customs post, the Moldovan young people will be met by mates from Romania, where they will reconstruct the event staged by their parents tens of years ago.
