The national Under 21 football team closed the group at the CIS Cup on the last place with zero points after three matches. The ‘tricolors’ lost to Lithuania 0-1, IPN reports.

Moldova was close to scoring a positive result with the Baltic team, but the ball hit the bar. One goal was disallowed for offside. Even if it played in numerical inferiority from the 37th minute, Lithuania managed to take revenge on Moldova for the 0-3 defeat sustained in Tiraspol in the Euro 2015 preliminaries. Stankeavicius scored the only goal from an 11-meter kick in the 27th minute.

Lithuania and Moldova will meet again on July 5. The lineup for Moldova may then include Zasavitski, Milinceanu, Prodan, Matei, Coselev and Focsa, who are absent from the CIS Cup for different reasons.

Earlier, Moldova lost to Russia and the team from Sankt-Petersburg also by 0-3. The ‘tricolors’ will compete now for the 9th-12th places at the CIS Cup against the national team of Tajikistan.
