National tuberculosis response program for 2022-2025 approved

The authorities until 2025 aim to reduce the incidence of tuberculosis by 50% and tuberculosis mortatality by 75% comparaed with 2015. The authorities also intend to increase the treatment success rate among patients with TB and to improve access to diagnostic and treatment services for all the citizens. These objectives are stipulated in the national tuberculosis response program for 2022-2025 that was approved by the Government, IPN reports.

Among the objectives of the program is to ensure universal access to systematic screening for those who come into contact or are from the groups at high risk of developing TB; to early diagnostic services and drug susceptibility testing, including rapid tests. The document envisions the management of diseases and socioeconomic problems according to the personal needs and the extension of TB preventive treatment.

The Chisinau Municipal Council, the Bălți Municipal Council and the district councils are to design and ensure the implementation of local TV response programs based on the national program.

The program will have a total budget of over 1.3 billion lei and will be implemented with annual funds earmarked in the national public budget and with funds secured from other sources, including the grant provided by the Global Fund.
