Moldova will have a National Tourism Office – an autonomous body that will implement policies and regulations worked out by the central authority in the field - the Ministry of Culture. The new entity will support the development of tourism, will provide services and assistance to the sector and will ensure promotion and marketing activities for increasing tourism revenues, IPN reports.

“It happens in the context in which Moldova is the only country in Central and Southeastern Europe which does not have a national institution responsible for the implementation of tourism policies, even if this sector is considered to have enormous potential for attracting investment and for developing,” said the Ministry of Culture.

The costs associated with the remuneration of the 25 employees of the National Tourism Office were estimated at 2.6 million lei. They will be covered with funds provided by the development partners and donors.
