The authorities decided to extend the deadline for implementing the national strategy for preventing and combating organized crime for three more years, until 2019. The decision was taken in a meeting of the National Council for Coordinating Activities to Prevent and Combat Organized Crime that was chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, IPN reports.

The Premier said that when the provisions of a strategy are not fully implemented, the deadline for implementing these is extended. A plan of action will be worked out to achieve the set objectives.

According to official reports, 177 criminal groups were hunted down during the implementation of the national strategy for preventing and combating organized crime for 2011-2016. It was ascertained that the organized crime in the epoch of information technology takes new shapes and includes mainly economic crimes that cause considerable damage to the budget and the people. Cybercrime also involves risks. The cyber-attacks can affect the security systems of the state and complex measures are needed to prevent them.
