Moldova’s rugby team is to play two important matches in the fight for qualification for the first group of the European Nations Cup. Sergiu Motoc’s pupils will meet the national squads of Sweden and Germany on November 9 and November 16 at home, IPN reports.
Moldova lost the first matches against Sweden and Germany played abroad. However, the ‘outlaws’ are sure they will become leaders in the group. The national team of Moldova is optimistic even if brothers Victor and Dumitru Arhiv will not play for it as they sustained injuries. But the team will be helped by Vadim Cobilas, of the English team Sale Sharks, and Oleg Prepelita, of Benfica Lisbon.
“We are ready. We all come from powerful championships and intend to beat them,” Oleg Prepelita has told a TV channel.
Moldova ranks third in the group with 12 points. It is outstripped by Poland and Germany, which have both by 20 points, but with one and, respectively, two matches more played.
The match between Moldova and Sweden will be played on Dinamo Stadium on November 9, starting at 12 noon. The encounter with Germany will take place on November 16. Tickets cost 20 lei.
