Civil society must join in the process of dealing with ecological problems in Moldova. For the purpose, a national platform will be created to cover the environmental civil society organizations. The issue was discussed in a roundtable meeting staged by the Foundation for Ecological Development Ecodava, IPN reports.
The Foundation’s head Dumitru Roibu said the platform will be created in a move to find solutions for protecting the environment. “We will create this platform for discussing the most topical problems and identifying solutions. It is an opportunity for ensuring cooperation between organizations and between the state bodies,” he stated.
Attending the event, acting Deputy Minister of the Environment Dorin Dusciac said that civil society and the authorities must struggle against negligence and carelessness. “The individual lack of attitude and the collective lack of responsibility we show are the greatest enemies of a clean environment and we should realize this,” he stated.
Referring to the defective regulation of the financing of environmental NGOs, the official said that there should be adopted regulations that would clearly stipulate who and in what conditions can benefit from resources from the National Ecological Fund.
The head of the Association of Ecologists Vladimir Garaba said that over 200 environmental NGOs are registered in Moldova, but only about 20 of these are active. By this platform, the other organizations will be attracted and trained what to do to benefit from financing for implementing different projects.
The Foundation for Ecological Development Ecodava is a nongovernmental and nonpolitical organization that implements ecological orientation projects and stages seminars, conferences, cleanup activities and ecological trips with a view to ensuring Moldova’s ecological development and cultivating ecological responsibility in people.
