Representatives of the senior management of the ministries of Finance, Economy, Information and Communication Technology, of the E-Government Center, the Association of Banks of Moldova and of authorized banks on September 16 signed the statutes of the National Payments Council. Its signing coincides with the coming into force of the Law on Electronic Payment Services and Money (September 15), IPN reports.
The National Payments Council was conceived as a high-level professional consultancy forum between different public and private institutions for supporting the safe and stable functioning of the system of payments in Moldova. The Council will make sure that the payment services meet the market demand so as to satisfy the needs of end-users. It will also promote secured and accessible cash-free payment instruments, said the governor of the National Bank Dorin Dragutanu.
He voiced hope that the composition of the Council will soon extend and will include other providers of payment services and issuers of electronic money. The consultations that will be held by the Council will facilitate cooperation between the public authorities and participants in the payment services market. The National Payments Council will be headed by the National Bank vice governor, stated Dorin Dragutanu.
