National Opera and Ballet Theatre resumed its activity at the end of this week, after a technical break related to its building’s renovation.
According to a press release of the Theatre, the troupe comes back in full force, presenting 4 ballets, 6 operas, an operetta and a concert in December.
The novelty of the season will be the installation of a special device providing subtitles in Romanian of the operas in the current repertoire. Thus, on Friday evening, December 15, “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, presented in the original language has been accompanied by a Romanian translation. Thus, the music lovers have the possibility to have a broader understanding of the message of operas. The Romanian version of texts has been offered by opera theatres from Iasi and Brasov.
Another novelty in December will be the performance of two invited soloists – the Ukrainian tenor Alexei Repcinski, who will play in “Rigoletto” on Saturday, December 16, and another tenor from Korea - Patrizio Ha who will perform the leading roles in “Tosca” (December 19) and “Aida” (December 21).
The last show of the year, “The Bat”, an operetta by Johann Strauss will be presented on December 30 in English.
