The troupe of the National Opera House “Maria Biesu” set off for a tour of Moldova. The first performance – the opera “The Merry Widow” by Franz Lehar - was given in Hancesti on November 21, when the town celebrated its day. The tour will cover 15 districts of the country and will involve 100 artists of the theater, IPN reports.
Contacted by IPN, technical director Ion Vasiliu said the idea of giving performances all over the country appeared two years ago, but since then they have had only several performances on the left bank of the Nistru River, in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa.
According to Ion Vasiliu, they are first examining the concert halls in the district centers to see if they can have performances there. The price of tickets will be set depending on the capacity of the halls. The proceeds will go to pay salaries to the artists involved in the project.
