The National Museum of Arts of Moldova will be inaugurated following the restoration of its central building “Dadiani” on November 4. The event will include the mounting of a permanent national arts exhibition that will consist of works from the Religious Arts Collection and the Modern and Contemporary Arts Collection, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Minister of Culture Monica Babuc said the building works started in 2003, when the first tranche for designing the reconstruction project was disbursed. Since then, during 11 years, over 21 million lei had been provided for different works to restore the building “Dadiani”. In 2014, the Government of Romania allocated €1 million reconstructing the museum based on a memorandum signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania and the Ministry of Culture of Moldova. “The Romanian grant helped complete the works this November,” stated the minister.
The Museum’s director Tudor Zbarnea said the foundation, walls and resistance structure were strengthened. The façade was restored. A part of the roof was turned into attic. Many of the internal and external walls were reinforced with metal and steels bars. The museum was equipped with a modern heating and ventilation system.
The inaugural ceremony will involve Prime Minister Pavel Filip, Minister of Culture Monica Babuc and Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ionita. The museum will be opened to the public on November 5. Entrance to the exhibition halls on this day will be free.
