Members of the National Movement For People, which consists of political parties, public associations, national and foreign experts, said that they managed to collected 300,000 signatures in favor of obliging the Government to pay citizens’ bills for energy resources for three winter months. They noted they didn’t give up the protest announced earlier and called on the people to come to the protest that will be mounted in front of the Parliament Building on February 19.

In a news conference hosted by IPN, Tatiana Bordeaianu, of the Party “Building Europe at Home”, said the government places all kinds of impediments in the process of collecting signatures. Even so, volunteers of the Movement work in tents, on the street or go from home to home. “It is very important for the people to realize the value of each signature. At the moment, as we said, we have over 300,000 signatures. This number, which increases continuously, cannot be ignored endlessly by this government that plays with the country,” stated Tatiana Bordeaianu.

Shor Party MP Marina Tauber noted that member and sympathizers of the Movement also held a protest rally on Thursday, when the Recean Government was to be voted in. They demanded that the new Government should undertake to pay the population’s bills for energy resources in the winter season. But the government ignored their approaches. Such a position cannot be tolerated, said the MP, calling on the people to join in this Sunday’s protest. “I want to note that no one prepares destabilization or revolutions for February 19,” said Marina Tauber.

Sergey Mishin, chairman of the Party “Renaissance – Vozrojdenie”, said that those from the government promise a better life. Even if they give the European states as an example, the rulers do not want to respect the citizens’ right to assemble, as they do in those states. The people should join in the peaceful protest so as to demand that the government pay their bills.

The chairman of the Centrist Union of Moldova Mihai Petrache said the expression of dissatisfaction is an efficient communication instrument. “In a peaceful, reasonable, argued, calculated way, we try to formulate demands that the Government would simply examine and provide a response,” stated Mihai Petrache.

The head of the public association “Salvgardare” Maia Laguta noted that people’s demands will be communicated at this Sunday’s protest that will take place even if the authorities use all kinds of scarecrows as the Moldovans are not afraid.
