As from May 5, the ethnics of national minorities, including the adult population, can register to attend Romanian language courses as part of the national program approved for 2023-2025. The courses are free of charge, while the teaching and learning process will take place both with physical presence of auditors and online, IPN reports.

“This program includes the teaching of free Romanian language courses to grownups. The courses are intended for teaching staff and managers of educational institutions of the Republic of Moldova and also for adult persons who work in different sectors of the national economy, justice, medicine, arts, local and central public administration and other persons who want to study Romanian,” Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală told a news conference.

According to the minister, the courses will be given mostly in regions of the country, depending on the submitted applications. About 2,500 teachers and managers of general education institutions and approximately 4,000 adult persons from different professional categories, including Ukrainian refugees, are to be taught Romanian this year.

“Any person with a valid email address can register for Romanian language courses by filling out a form online as from today until May 26. The link to the form is available on the website of the Ministry of Education and Research,” said Anatolie Topală.

If the interested persons cannot register online, they can go to the local educational institution starting with next week. There, they will be helped to complete the application to attend the courses.

“Today, we will launch the tender contest to choose the company that will stage the courses and the relevant contract is to be signed in several weeks so that the training could start immediately afterward. At the end of the Romanian language courses, the auditors will get a certificate showing their level of competence in Romanian,” noted the official.

The Romanian language courses will be organized at a cost of over 6 million lei. The money will be allocated from the state budget.
