National Library stages Night of Libraries Oct. 1

The National Library of the Republic of Moldova will mount the Night of Museums on October 1. This year’s edition is titled “Librarians active through equity and social cohesion”. The eleventh edition is staged with support from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the National Association of Librarians of the Republican of Moldova and the National Association of Librarians and Public Libraries of Romania. The activities as part of the campaign are held simultaneously in Romania and in the Republic of Moldova. The event is aimed at promoting libraries and the creative activities offered by theses.  

Given the pandemic, the National Library prepared a mixt program, of online and offline events, such as book launches, information sessions, interactive activities, visits to libraries and places with access closed to users, unique exhibitions of publications, journals and postcards. There will be emphasized such concepts as hybrid library, library as a learning center throughout lifetime, library as a community center, library as an information center, library in support of the implementation of the UN Agenda 2030 etc. All the registered new users will benefit from surprises.

“Compared with the previous years, before the pandemic, we will now orient to the online space and will place emphasis on our accounts on social networking sites. The materials that will promote our services will be in electronic form as well, such as short films and videos. We will use the open area near the Library by obeying the norms imposed by the authorities for public events in this period, “National Library director general Elena Pintilei stated for IPN.  

“We promote services for researches, students and facilitate access to electronic services for scientific purposes.”
