The Church has always promoted culture and education, supported and continues to support the intellectual and spiritual formation of the young generation in schools, universities, churches and monasteries. The moral-spiritual education would have no impact without the biggest and most read book – the Holy Bible. This book should be present in each home, priest Maxim Melinti, doctor of history, said, transmitting the message of His Holiness Vladimir, Bishop of Chisinau and all Moldova, in a symposium staged by the National Library in cooperation with the Moldovan Metropolitan Church, IPN reports.

National Library director Elena Pintilei said the Library considered it is necessary to consult priest Maxim Melinti about what they can organize together with the Church given that this autumn witnesses a shortage of communication and socialization.

Priest Octavian Moşin, university teacher, spoke about the Meeting of God Chapel that is situated on the territory of the State University and was erected in 1880. “At end of this summer, it was 140 years of its construction. This church is unordinary. Why is it among the 15 municipal buildings of culture that form part of the national heritage? This is an unusual building surrounded by several blocks of study that appeared concomitantly with the construction of the church,” stated the priest, noting it is particularly a church of the young and now the young researchers who study at the State University are preoccupied with different researches in theology.

Other priests, professors, researchers and librarians spoke about the role of education, in particular theological one, in developing the cultural heritage and cultivating the spiritual values. The symposium was held block II of the National Library, which is one of the three buildings of the Theological Seminar opened in Chisinau in 1814 by Holy Hierarch Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni.

On October 16, between 10am and 2pm, there will be staged a pilgrimage to the Căpriana Monastery to render homage to Holy Hierarch Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni.
