Photographs with sketches of the urban plan of post-war Chisinau, monographs on the protection of cultural heritage in Bessarabia and other items are presented by the National Library of the Republic of Moldova at a thematic exhibition entitled "Chisinau's Architectural Heritage in Bessarabian Fine Art of 19th-20th Centuries," IPN reports.
The first section reflects the theoretical aspect of the exhibition: encyclopedias, monographs, articles, research by historians in the field of urbanism and architectural heritage, concepts and notions of urbanism and architectural heritage, legal, technical and economic aspects of architectural heritage, as well as the Black Book of Cultural Heritage of Chisinau Municipality (2010 edition).
Another section shows Chisinau as seen in various states by the nation's artists: the album “States. The City of Chisinau in the Creation of Plastic Artists” (2023), the album of Ludmila Toma Eugenia Gamburg (2007), albums and postcards by Vasile Movileanu, as well as the postcards of Alexandru Hmelnitski (1966).
According to the National Library, "Chisinau is a city with a complex architectural heritage, where the past and the present are intertwined, and the preservation of these buildings becomes increasingly important in keeping the cultural and historical identity of the city. The architectural heritage of the capital city has contributed, over the years, to the formation of the history of the national civilization, being an essential element, and the current generation has the duty to save this heritage for posterity".
The exhibition includes about 200 documents from the collection of the "Arts and Maps" division. Encyclopedias, monographs, albums, periodical editions can be admired by visitors until February 28, 2015 in the second block of the library.
